North East Bangladeshi Awards (NEBA) supporting this very important and historical achievement unveils world-first Rohingya memorial as 'powerful' reminder of Myanmar atrocities. This permanent memorial stone was erected in Newcastle Civic Centre's Peace Garden to remember the victims of the atrocities committed against Myanmar’s Rohingya population.
NEBA directors joined Rohingya Communities and civic dignitaries for this unveiling. This is a historic moment not just for Newcastle, but for the global community. We honour the lives lost, the resilience of survivors, and send a clear message that genocide must never be ignored or forgotten. This memorial stands as a permanent reminder of our shared responsibility to speak out against injustice and to uphold human dignity.
